Programs

Infants - Step One (6 weeks to 12 months) // Step Two (12 months – 24 months)

Milestone Academy is devoted to fostering your infant's strengths, personality, and capabilities. We have two infant rooms, providing care for children ages 6 weeks to 24-months. At Milestone Academy we understand that young children require flexibility and individualization when it comes to meeting their unique needs. Keeping this in mind, we attempt to establish as much consistency as possible to provide your little one with a strong sense of trust and security.

Our highly trained staff are constantly tailoring their presentations of language, social, practical life, cognitive, motor, and sensory activities to meet the needs of each individual infant. Each child is unique and the specific instruction may vary.

Our devoted staff will work to ensure your infant's needs are met, as well as their developmental milestones. Our classrooms offer a variety of opportunities to learn through reading, fingerplays, sign language, singing, and positive socialization with teachers. The environment is designed to enrich the senses and provide objects that promote active exploration and stimulate cognitive development as well as fine and gross-motor skills.

Toddlers (24 months)

Life in our toddler classroom is conducted at a moderate pace, as children are working to develop language, cognition, and other vital skills. They spend ample amounts of time working with practical life skills and sensory activities as these are an important way that children develop fine and gross motor skills, independence, and cooperation.

Toddlers will actively participate in contributing to their environment, through which they develop a sense of self-awareness and competency. Toddlers will be introduced to numbers, letters, sounds, shapes, and colors. Our toddler room is alive with music, movement, and endless opportunities for exploration with purposeful play and social interactions with peers and teachers.

Preschool (3 year olds)

Our preschool classrooms create a community of learners that support and grow from one another.

Through developmentally appropriate and self-directed activities, our preschoolers can follow their unique interests and learning preferences as they develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Our teachers provide a wide range of instructional strategies and activities to encourage meaningful and engaged learning.

Abstract concepts are taught through manipulative hands-on materials.

Pre-K (4 -5 years old)

With highly qualified staff, this is your child’s last stop before heading to kindergarten. In this class your child will work on activities ranging from practical life skills, sensorial, mathematics, language, writing, science, geography, art, reading, music, movement. Along with academic concepts, Pre-K students are developing a sense of self-control, independence, problem-solving skills, concentration, and cooperation. In our Pre-K classrooms, we provide a balance of structure and security combined with the freedom and independence your child needs to thrive and reach their full potential.

Our 4 and 5 year old classrooms utilize the Alabama Transition to Kindergarten Toolkit to ensure your child is ready to start kindergarten when it’s time. Each year we organize an exciting curriculum including a graduation ceremony for children starting kindergarten in the fall. This is a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to see their little one on stage and see all they’ve learned.
